SENIOR OPERATIONAL RISK MANAGER – INSURANCE

Our Client, a Leading Insurance Group, continues to grow and thus has an exciting career opportunity in their Australian Operational Risk team for an experienced Risk Manager. Reporting to the Group Risk and Compliance Manager you will be responsible for ensuring significant risks of the business are being adequately and appropriately mitigated.

The main scope of this role will involve:

• enhancing and maintaining the Group risk management strategy, including: framework development and other initiatives to meet changing needs; risk and control capability; and in meeting external expectations (e.g. regulator and rating agency)
• enhancing risk management communication throughout the business (horizontal & vertical) and board / audit committee risk management reporting
• liaising with all divisions, in particular: encouraging risk management developments; monitoring adherence with the risk management strategy; and maintaining regular communication and information sharing
• assisting compliance with the risk management strategy and monitoring actions required through to implementation
• enhancing group risk management reporting and facilitation of same
• reviewing and maintaining the Group risk management strategy and related documentation for approval by the Board / Group Audit Committee
• investigating the feasibility of implementing a group wide risk management tool
• Assisting with other business wide projects and initiatives as required

The ideal applicant will be degree qualified and may have a professional Accounting, Risk or Insurance qualification. While extensive experience in operational risk and/or auditing is required as important will be experience gained working within complex organisational structures. You will also have exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, and have a can do attitude and thrive in a team environment. Applicants with previous Insurance and/or Reinsurance experience will be highly regarded.
