Our client a UAE Based Diverse Group with a prominent Investment Arm with substantial assets is looking to appoint a Chief Investment Officer. The CIO will have responsibility for the company’s investment portfolio and will be responsible for asset allocation and rebalancing. The CIO will need to be a strategic thinker, effective communicator and a creative, trustworthy advisor to the chairman of the group
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the overall leadership, management, and planning of investment, research and strategy of the Investment arm.
- Act as the Chair of the Investment Committee comprised of 4 senior investment professionals - CIO, portfolio manager, risk manager, and head of research.
- Shaping the investment policies; overseeing the management of various portfolios; providing strategic asset allocation direction; and creating the right environment and resources for investment and research staff to generate the best possible performance.
- Provide ongoing review and oversight of the investment policy implementation through the development of search criteria for underlying hedge funds, development of specific guidelines to facilitate the achievement of portfolio objectives, and establishing quantitative and qualitative measures that will be used to evaluate performance.
- Create and implement strategy for Private Equity funds, Real Estate, Agri Funds and Infra-Structure funds etc.
- Presenting the CEO with pertinent and lucrative Investment opportunities from foreign markets to increase the diversity of portfolio under managment
- Produce a fully integrated array of products that encompasses listed equities, fixed income and structured products and oversee discretionary assets
- Develop our client’s asset management capabilities, investment process, compliance, systems and procedures
- Develop the different product lines the company wishes to distribute in adherence with market expectations; (existing products, competition, practices) and in proposing and implementing solutions to satisfy the regional and international ambitions of the company.
- The CIO will work closely with the chairman with primary responsibility to ascertain and evaluate new projects received for profitability and viability.
Key Attributes:
- Experience at an investment firm, Investment banking or working for a well diversified group as a COO or CEO member of the board would be a prerequisite.
- CA / CFA or MBA with a major in finance required.
- 10 years collective experience of which first 5 years experience of direct portfolio management experience essential, including experience with both fixed income and equity investment management, both public and private asset classes.
- Real estate and alternative investment related experience also required.
- Significant investment experience as well as proven investment judgment and strong analytical ability.
- Extensive knowledge of investment instruments, concepts, strategies, styles, and analytical methodologies from the total portfolio level to individual security selection.
- Knowledge of global and domestic macro economic and capital market issues relating to investments, with a focus on opportunities in Europe and the America markets.
- Extensive skills in managing, mentoring, and motivating staff to meet organization goals and objectives.
- Exceptional skills at negotiating and resolving problems.
- Extensive skills in effective written and verbal communications, including preparing and delivering complex correspondence, reports, presentations, policies and proposals.
- First-class people skills and ability to drive the business forward.
