 "It’s not easy looking for a job", Jeremy said. Jeremy was one of my oldest friends from university and after working for a few years in a professional service firm had decided that it was time for a change. But where should he start? As always Jeremy was thinking laterally. It was only July 1999 but already he had realised that the internet was going to make it far easier to see a broader range of job opportunities. If only the website existed.
"How bizarre, I had been thinking about exactly the same thing but from a slightly different perspective", I said. "I was thinking wouldn’t it be great for recruiters to be able to communicate much more regularly with job seekers, provide up to date job opportunities as well as use the internet to explain why one company is different from another".
A month later, in August 1999 I resigned from the bank I was working for at the time. In September we started work on the project and on 31 January, 2000 our first website, www.totallylegal.com was born. A few years later, www.totallyfinancial.com was launched. In May 2007 www.totallylegal.com and www.totallyfinancial.com were acquired by Trinity Mirror Digital Limited, a subsidiary of Trinity Mirror PLC.
